Multiserver 2?
#1
Hi! I am really interested to the multiserver app. I tried it last night with my friend and it doesn't work. Sure I did something wrong. I have reading a few tutorials but they don't explain what to do.
What I did as server is
  1. Download Multiserver
  2. Copy the ddraw.dll into my lf2 directory
  3. Start LF2 Multi Server v2.0.exe
  4. Set the number of players to 2 (then it says that the server was started)
  5. Start Little Fighter 2a
  6. Choose network game
  7. Wait for opponent
  8. Tell my friend to connect to my IP without starting multiserver
  9. It doesn't work. So I find my IP on whatismyip.com and tell my friend to connect to it
  10. It still doesn't work.
  11. Tried to set the player count to 1 and I connect to localhost, everything goes nicely.

So do I miss something? Is there a complete guide for this program? Do I need another external program with this?

Thanks in advance!

I'm assuming you're using a router.

Type your "192.xxx.xxx" ip(or whatever LF2 tells you your ip apparently is. This is your private ip, for your own local host) into your web browser(Chrome/Firefox/Opera/Internet Explorer, whatever).
This should bring you to your router's page. Login.
Open port 12345, TCP connection - this is the connection LF2 uses.
Once port is opened, you can ask your friend to connect to your public ip(the one that whatismyip.com says you have) in LF2.

That's the general method. For exact instructions on how to portforward, it depends on your router, just google that.

You don't need multiserver to connect to your friend btw; its only really used if you are planning to host for more than 2 people or hosting for other people to play. If your port is open you should be able to connect directly as well.

I am using firefox. It tells me unable to connect. I use my Android phone's USB tethering for my internet connection.
Can I play LF2 through it online?

Ahh... in that case I have no idea. Dunno if anyone else here knows.

No! both of you have to connect to Multiserver.

You should open Multiserver for 2 players, and than:
1) Open LF2
2) Choose Network Game
3) Choose connect to opponent
4) Just press ok, it should connect locally to Multiserver.

Than your friend has to do the same, but with your outside ip address:
http://whatismyip.com/
Open this site, copy the ip address from there and send it to your friend.
Of course he has to put ddraw.dll in his LF2 too.

I am playing a little, but I have never played with someone outside my country.
In Israel we have LFN, a program like LF2 Lobby.
But it is currently opened only for people from our country.
I think you should try the IRC or Discord of LF Empire (up in the menu here) :D

Hi! I tried that. It didn't work.
I open multiserver and enter the count for 2 players.
i connect to localhost.
My lf was not responding and I kept waiting.

He opened Multiserver and entered the count 2. I told him to connect to my public IP.
His LF doesn't go notresponding.

The game didn't start loading and nothing happens.

Both of us have ddraw.dll in the root of lf2 folder, using unmodded version.

Do I do any mistakes?

Thanks!

i have to ask: why not use lobby? imo it's much better, and easier to use.
make sure to check my sprites!
I guarantee your eyes won't hurt! At least, they won't hurt too much :p !

I tried that two hours ago. It results same. We are in a same room and the instructions are shown. We connect to localhost and the LF is not responding again. Please help!

For LF2 Lobby, you don't connect to local host.

You connect to 127.0.0.1
