So.... there's also a disadvantage: a lurker would get points really fast, without doing anything besides staying online.
I personally really don't like the idea of any other point system, so far we've got:
- posts
- reputation
- (tournament)
- (warning level)
- thanks

This should be pretty much enough...

edit: dang, you were faster :P

Can't the way points are achieved be altered with certain systems?

Or rather give members the option to edit their rank title names...?

If I gave you the option right now, I'm pretty sure that I'll get in an argument with MH. As far as I know him, he's against the custom user title thingy. So yea, I don't really want to change anything major while he's gone. Bug-fixing is ok but that's it. ;)

Points are useless here in this community, besides it's too chaotic and it has caused moderation problems. Besides, you don't have to be fanciful to be a good/famous member. And if you really need it you could always ask, provided it is a good reason.

Bigger ava/sig? Heck, no. In the older forums, I saw this guy with incredibly large ava and signature and it annoyed it greatly. My computer screen resolution is set at the highest and it still stretches the screen. Imagine those using a lower resolution. They'll have a hard time reading posts. Same thing applies when posting images, it is recommended to post links instead of a direct image to avoid the page from being stretched.

The thanks and reputation is good enough too. It's not like they're important, it's just to show that you've been a respected member. And anyone who joins would know you're a respected/senior member when they post around long enough.

About rank title names, I strongly oppose to that being changed. It's kept strictly for the admins' use which could be important. Also, it can be confusing ; someone may put in their user title "Banned" when he isn't which can cause a lot of confusion. Again, you don't need to look fanciful. If you must have a cool personal message, leave it in your signature.

about the big avas and so: go to officials, it's terrible there

and about custom user title: some may remember handpoker at g4f: he made his title super modertor and everybody wondered :p
