looks somewhat like bp to me, probably only because i always imagine him with blue hair
hmm, but his hair is very long... hmm... i totally have no cluw who that might be :P
but nice sprite. only flaw i can spot atm is the high shading contrast on his left arm. it seems so... unsmooth.

is it only for me or others that i can't see the colored version of image? ... Also, my guess is Trickityhouse. I chose him cause of the belt and its a Japanese...
Hey mr. Apoc, i am going to make a request/advice . I always choose already existing colors in the palette i have ( Toyo colors) but most of my sprite doesn't seem to have better color combinations. Is there any idea u suggest for making my sprites look more good? \
Edit: Also, i want to know how u make shadow and highlight colors.
Edit @ V : Damn, it might be even chisio!!... gratz

“Constant, indiscriminate approval devalues because it is so predictable”, someone with a long, unpronounceable name once said. This is pure criticism from my subjective view and should not be taken as “critique” per se.
My initial reaction to Apoc’s certified for gold sprites was a spontaneous combustion of joy, an instant homepage bookmark and a desire to eat the whole printout with chili sauce. I wanted to narrate my soul among these masterpieces so badly that I reworked a couple designs myself, but we’re here not about me.
Although many of these sprites are conventional. For example, Angeles follows the tradition of classic Renaissance, while Death depicts the Grim Reaper or one of the four Horsemen of Apocalypse, also, there are the mermaids, archangels and minotaurs.
In other sprites we see a great sense of style and fashion. For example, Axel has a cool trench-coat (as Eflucix, Enigma, Heat and some others – it seems that Apoc has a deep fascination with them), Dave – Men in Black clothes and funky shoes, Dayla a – tomboyish hair and tight pants, Devon is like Dante from DMC, and so on and on.
Despite that, Apoc challenges himself and sprites traditional robes. Carmesí seems like he just hopped out from some ancient Aztec tribe, Duncan is a punk with a strong entitlement to wear Chinese outfits, Glacion reminds me of Sweden somehow, Leonidas wears some kind of a Spanish conquistador’s formal outfit, Maximillian reeks of the age of kings, Vulcanus is like a wild nomad, and so on and on.
There are also a lot of fantasy elements in Apoc’s sprites. That includes the animals. Three-headed Cerberus-from-Hell like lions, awesome Death’s horse on two legs; though I have to say that Snow and Tania’s pet look quite mediocre, like from plastic and without emotion and without implied fierceness. Drake has an elven similarity with Lord of the Rings book and films, Gabriel is like Claude from Final Fantasy. Empire and Darks are okay, but LF2TimmE1 remakes are the best in the level of detail for the armor. One word: prodigious.
What I like most about Apoc’s sprites is the girls. They’re beautiful to look at. Brisa has long grey hair, nice tits and is fit as hell. Elizabeth is a little loli in light blue dress, all sparkly and cute. Love the Love (that’s the name); one of the rare images where it seems that Apoc had experimented and, while the graininess looks as mystic as it should, the head is an awful mess (a gentle hint here to fix it). Lucy and her skins are fantastic in detailed reconstruction of original characters' clothes. Did I mentioned that she has deliciously juggly battle cannons on her chest? Well, now I did. Rose looks nice, but I sense that something here is not right. Usually I have a hard-on for short hair, but she looks so unattractive. Nevertheless, shapelly legs save the day. Meteora and Mistara are among my favorites. They’re like futanari fusions – athletic, great poses for the camera, epic boobs – say cheese, girls! And last, but awkwardly really last, is Evo Jan. I’m surprised that anyone wanted to make a full char out of her. She’s not my type and I wouldn’t hit on her. Maybe if those bubbles wouldn’t be around; nah, she probably doesn’t have any other friends without them. Let her be, Claude. Just let.
I haven’t mentioned other characters, because of the space (I try to write one page of material that I wouldn’t bore anyone to death). My final comments are these: when it comes to Apoc, it’s 99% of genius and 1% of effort. My only wish is that you would do more full sized artwork and share your progress and/or technique with others. If you feel generous, that is. That’s it, thanks for reading and sorry for grave-digging.

I laughed hard at those :p

There are times that I browse through my gallery and I think some of the current sprites are mediocre, so I remake them. I'll take into consideration the next time I do that.

I think you mean tutorials? I do want to make one, but not just one single image depicting how to shade a shirt, like I did some time ago. I always wanted to do something that includes everything I know about sprites (shading, color palette, templates..), clothes design (?), anatomy (human and animals), and such. But to do the way I want, I'll need to invest lots of time and effort, and that's what I lack right now D:
About the artwork, you should check my art gallery, but there's not much there ( link). You can go to first page but what I have done before is not representative of my current level (I have to update that thread).
Today I uploaded this one of Dark Davis performing the Necro Dragon Punch. He's standing still, not jumping. I did it on intervals of ~15min in several Uni breaks this week. Done completely with pen, so there's some flaws I couldn't fix:
I didn't really do much more than basical shading because I want to color it with Photoshop. It's just a sketch, in other words.

Holy crap.... that's freaking epic.
"I may devour the five continents, and swallow the three seas, but a body with neither wings, nor hands, nor feet, is powerless against the sky."
My stuff:
| sprites | frozen |
1) DO NOT PM ME
2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.

Those look really good. Damn apoc, raising the bar yet higher, awesome stuff.
I have to say though, the proportions on Marshall and Alblaka are a little rushed and off. they look kinda stunted somehow.
MH looks totally WAY out there though. freaking awesome. Turn that into a character, and my current Frozen project will be turned into a scrap pile that I'll have to finish quickly and then move on to a even crazier project.
And now I really want to decide on a design for myself, just to see what you'd make of it.
By your explanation on the skills stuff.. I'd probably be some kind of mage knight... sounds cool.
erm, needed 3 months untill i found this, so what was the plan? i agree on hc - the image you planned for me is awesome
