why not?

i make those for fun,
whats the idea of drawing an anime char? if it would be an animated battle wont it be greater?
it will, but making a single drawing isnt less appreciated.
another example is 3d artist, they make a 3d model for fun sometimes, and not just for a full playable char.

those sprites im making are not meant to be playable.
making individual sprites will also improve your design skills and spriting skills.
and they might also inspire other people and not just you.

im assuming that when pf posted Jason sprite at the first time, i dont think he meant to co-operate with yinyin to make a full char.
i think yinyin just saw the design, liked it and offered pf his dc work.

its just like in the game industry, when designing a game, if you would get to their character folder you might see a lot more characters than they actually placed into the game, most of them would be experimenting with different designs and ideas.

I keep seeing the ball as moving anti-clockwise (backwards) instead of clockwise (forward) >_>

The yellow thing I'm assuming are sparks from friction against a metal floor. I suppose you could use a slightly more orange/gold spark with a gradient and it'd look a bit better? And maybe add 1 single pixel on its own near the end of the effect?

EDIT:

It's perfectly fine for object that moves in very high speed because of inertia of our eyes we can't see whole movements, but we sporadically catch pictures in constant period so if object rotate more than 360° in that period we got this kind of effect that object moves anticlockwise while it's going forward. Also because of inertia of our eyes LF2 doesn't look stupid.
