I still got an error a few seconds into the replay. But cool thing you got to play without the hopping. Siegvar just reported having the same problem, so I'm now double on trying to find a fix (without messing up data.txt order).

It is kind of your fault if you get hit that often. That 4th attack should knock you out - dropping you with minimal damage (better than taking the super X, be it charged or not). A 5th or more can only go in if you flipped or had a larger gap between the attacks, which should allow you to escape or counter.
Here is a tip if you have trouble keeping distance or need to stay close for your own attacks: all the basic attacks can be blocked. You can even block the super X as often as you like in a row. Either you nudge away while doing that to use one gap and jump out of the way or you wait for YinYin to cool down with a straight up screw attack.

During those tries, I learned one thing: NEVER use D to cancel D>J for Dennis or Firen, or else the controls will screw you up. I'll get a better one next try.
A draw! I wish I could view that. The armor itself actually got a slight downgrade (longer screw attack crouch allows for a quick backside attack and the broken armor animation creates an obligatory split second with the armor down). The full charge however may block projectiles.
And I also recently learned you should better not stop special moves like that.

the grinding part really makes me feel bored soon. the fact that your attacks normally deals so little damage even when you manage to get behind him also gets on my nerves a little.
I am iterating. The first stage should actually be a little easier now compared to version 1. The same will probably happen to stage 2 in version 3.

If you have an opportunity to attack from behind you should try to pick your strongest attack available. The better tactic is however trying to break and get past the armor for the same direct damage from the front. Whenever you see/hear the armor break you'll know that your last attack (sequence) was enough to break the armor. From that point you'll have to figure out how to expand it with one or more quick and strong hits.
(Also: Higher difficulty makes the armor come back more quickly. While easy mode may be too boring, normal mode should be a fair balance. Hopefully challenging but not frustrating.)

Teaming up can also be a fun way to land more hits or tactically attack from both sides.

I agree grinding isn't fun. Find strategies around it. (For me this is the most fun part about boss fights. You get thrown into an unknown hostile situation and while struggling to stay alive you have to find a strategy to win a seemingly impossible fight. I myself don't have the patience to crunch on the armor 8 minutes to win. Either I die under 2 minutes or win within 4.)

Don't worry. I'll be keeping backups of all versions. http://www.mediafire.com/download/ntwwq8...rsion1.zip

Thanks for the tip, helps if I did get cornered, but otherwise its still a gamble to keep defending and its very situational, because he moves forward quite a bit and can easily end up behind. And I can't block the projectile from a charged super x, ultimately better to never need to defend in the first place.

Well, lost my patience and I keep getting 150hp or more left, so I'll settle for the draw(considered stage complete and can press A to go to stage 3 despite results showing lose dead). Here's the video since replay is still screwed up but this time no bunny hopping:

Link if video code is not working.
Lots of >>JA, JA & D>J. Didn't block as I didn't know the trick yet. Finally draw because of D^A.

It's true, Dennis' options to quickly get out of defending are pretty bad. Davis or Woody have it easier there. Although without the charge you will be looping through broken defense frames rather soon, so that doesn't matter anyway. The ending up behind you is a twist I really like, because in the defense frames you can turn more quickly than he can start to attack from behind. So it's all up to your reflexes.

You should've used more D^A. They are rather cheap and combined with dash attacks can get you through the armor in a pretty controlled way.

I finally won.

Learned to block and used D^A more at long range; if close use it to push. Managed to use DvA once.

The two final chase blasts were epic. Had him occupied with a dash attack from the front and hit twice from the back. That's how to use Dennis.
And being down to 5hp just before that!

now that i really fight against him, stage1 has gotten a whole lot easier.
cheap wins are now available for characters such as dennis and davis at stage1.
now stage1 feels like meh for some characters. i think the fun of stage1 now lies in stealing yinyin's kills and then beating him. GREAT SUCCESS
RUDOLF DOUBLE KILL STEAL LIKE A TRUE NINJA
but then stage2 feels a whole lot different. the AI is smart enough to stop the spinning drop when charged if you are out of range.
heres my first serious battle against him.(just merely tested it with elemental characters before)
RUDOLF NINJA GANKING FOR THE WIN

oh, and these 2 are recorded in a row. which means i started with a randomly choosen character(rudolf here) and beat 2 stages in a go.
and im really lucky to be able to double kill steal in stage1 :p

It's best to dodge right through the explosion. You'll need that ability to survive through stage 3.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, Stage 3 is much easier than 1 and 2.
