How much colors should i use when editing a frame? should they be darker or lighter? 
- Thanks in advance for any advice

I mean look at jan her cloth is too dark... u should lighter that colour a little bit .. and rudolf cloth colour is too light... just use medium colours like the main charaters in the game...  and most important.. u should put  more time on thoese..

This time you didnt use highly satureated colors, thats also what Alapottra ment I guess.

Also this is your best edit so far! 

Why? the colors are fitting, they go well together and are less saturated then what u go with usually ( what i mean is that its almost hurting my eyes when looking at the other sprites, the colors are just too extreme/unnatural)
Only thing which could make this sprite better is higher contrast on the dress

A valuable tip is to use programs to change the color of things and not pintalas, just changing the colors with programs like paint.net is easier and more original

I wouldn't agree with that
It's better for him to get use to create new things
He paint over the regulars so he is getting more expiriance on painting instead of just sliding a the things that change the colors
This way he can start painting his own things later
It's like when u put a paper over a picture and u paint over it
After few times u will know how to paint that picture by urself or without the picture under ur paper
What u suggested is just like reprinting the picture few times u won't study anything from that

And for ur last word-

I think for beginners who want to create characters is a good idea, I usually paint in a 100% image and then I reduce to 50% leaving the good painting, but in the beginning when we just want to change the color of a garment, like a pants, and do not have a strategy, paint practically spoils the piece
