Welcome, Svenoc25! It's happy to see there are still people interested in LF2. I suggest you join the Little Fighter Empire Discord server because people are much more active there: https://discord.gg/x3XEct5xp2.

1. When did you discover LF2 for the first time?

It was my best friend's birthday with lots of friends. One guy showed us the game he just discovered. Then we literally waited in line to play with him, cause only he knew how to do the moves. My best friend still lives near me and we talk all the time. But the guy who showed us the game, he moved very far away now and I don't keep contact with him. Without him, I would never know what LF2 is.

2. What makes the game fun for you? / Why do you love it?

I'm allergic to 3D games, they make me dizzy as hell. There aren't many 2D games that I enjoy. My all-time favorite game is Celeste. And LF2 is just...a special thing. You guys probably see my channel. It just feels good to play and make videos about LF2.

3. Who is your favorite character in terms of gameplay? ( of the original 24 )

I used to like Rudolf, then Davis. Now I don't have any favorite, I like them all equally (except you, Henry).

4. Who is your favorite character in terms of design / looks? ( of the original 24 )

I think I like them all. Each has a special design (except you, Woody. You're a cheap copy of Dennis).

5. What's your favorite stage in stage mode?

I don't play stage mode that much~~

6. Do you prefer stage mode solo or with a team?

Solo. 1 big reason is I don't have any friends to play with.

7. Do you prefer small fights or big battles?

Small fights. I only enjoy big battles when I play Julian.

8. Who is your favorite custom character?

Nya by Nyamaiku. I love the idea of gambling and go crazy with randomness. However, I have a feeling that I'll have another favorite custom character in the future.

9. What's your favorite mod?

Lemme just give a long answer to this question.

Little Fighter 2.5 is a special mod to me because it's the 1st mod I discovered. I was totally blown away (because I had played original LF2 for too long).

LF3 Turbo, LF4 Turbo, R-LF2 are the next mods I found. All OP but it was fun to play.

I like Little Fighter Haha cause it has cool, simple sprites. I always like simplicity.

Then I discovered KT-LF2. It's in the same category with LF3 Turbo.

LF2 Pumpkulian Dimension (Halloween mod) and LF2 X-mas 2016 are 2 special mods from the Little Fighter Forever community (Russian).

All LF2 mods related to anime, movies, franchises (DBZ LF2, LF2 One Piece Legends of Sea, Fairy Tail LF2, LF2 Nintendo Vs. Sega, Metal Gear LF2, Bleach Bankai Revolution,...) have important roles in LF2 mods.

NTSD and LF2 neuerStern are very, very high quality and they still have a developing team with many great minds.

Iriga's (seriously, we should call him Iriga from now on cause that's his Discord profile's name) mods are unique. I like them.

So in conclusion, my favorite mod is Deltarune LF2 by TBVE.

10. Do you prefer playing the original LF2 or mods?

Mods. I don't have patience to practice my fighting skills in original LF2 to beat Shad90 or Sauce or Alves.

1. When did you discover LF2 for the first time?
Brother introduced the latest version(at the time) of LF2 v1.7 to me, we shared the keyboard and beat Stage Mode together.
Then I discovered LF2 fansites online and the rest is history.

2. What makes the game fun for you? / Why do you love it?
It was 2002-2003. 90s kids were taking computer classes in school, growing alongside arcades, internet, and anime like Dragonball and Digimon. LF2 came at exactly the right time; a free downloadable game where we could beat each other up with representations of ourselves in the form of anime characters as tiny as the school children we were.
Because no one ever reads the readme.txt file, we were fascinated by the discovery of flashy special moves, as well as actual secrets like transforming into Firzen. It was a lot of fun frantically running away, waiting for mana, and desperately try to press the correct button to blast hordes of enemies away.
Then we discovered that the game can be modified. The result: an explosion of overpowered but flashy LF2 mods with secret hell moves.

Not all players are satisfied with just discovering the special moves. If you want to deal more damage, to beat your opponent... you needed to be more efficient, and use powerful combos. And so players experimented with fighting techniques and posted their findings. It is from these discoveries, along with PvP competition, that the more hardcore players would discover a surprising depth to LF2's otherwise simple combat. Unfortunately, it is also an age where even badly compressed GIFs took a whole minute to load, and a simple 1min 360p video took 15min, so such gameplay knowledge in visually demonstrated form is difficult to archive, let alone share.

In time, people grow up and find new interests, but some come back with feelings of nostalgia, looking over at all the resources that have been accumulated and archived over the years. Now able to comprehend guides written by the old masters and having new tools to perform feats they couldn't before, these old players re-discover things that they have missed as kids and obtain a new-found appreciation of the game, possibly even re-igniting the flames of LF2 in their hearts.

Why am I telling you all this? Because what made me love LF2 has changed over the years, and I think the above best illustrates this point.
What has stayed the same though, is the appreciation of LF2's simple fun, and I would also argue its surprising accessibility that allows for great variety.

3. Who is your favorite character in terms of gameplay? ( of the original 24 )
Davis. His melee combos are brutally straight-forward yet effective and stylish, and his energy balls feel nice to rapidfire in 1v1.

4. Who is your favorite character in terms of design / looks? ( of the original 24 )
Freeze.
He was basically the Devil May Cry Vergil of LF2 - looks elegant & composed, spikey hair, stylish cape... and blue.
He stands out from the the rest of the cast with his very flashy & useful spells, and his combos follow a very unique style not seen in most other LF2 characters. It also helps that his melee is actually not bad at all, and his ability to convert energy into ice leave a very lasting impact on anyone who has tried to spam projectiles at him.

5. What's your favorite stage in stage mode?
I actually don't like LF2's stage mode at all. It is highly repetitive and focuses too much on army vs army fights.
That being said, I'd give it to Survival owing to its replay value in multiplayer.
Stage 3 would be the runner-up for being a relatively good stage for playing Solo without hostages.

6. Do you prefer stage mode solo or with a team?
I do not like having CPU teammates, but I like playing with real life players.
I feel games are at their best when you are facing the computer with your own raw skill, or when you struggle together with friends.

7. Do you prefer small fights or big battles?
Small fights.
Big battles get too chaotic and destroy any form of meaningful combat beyond running away and spamming long range AOE attacks.

8. Who is your favorite custom character?
If playing the custom character, I'd pick my own rep char Steiner.
Ironically I'm not fully satisfied with him and I'm actually happier playing as original LF2 Davis, mostly because Steiner is very technical character; its hard to use him to his full potential and I often prefer something more straight-forward / vanilla.

If spectating the custom character, I'd say its a tie between Nya and Kaktena.
These are 2 characters that managed to capture the magic of LF2 in the same way Freeze did - colourful design, flashy special moves, yet well-balanced to be on the same level of the 10 fighters, and has very unique combo styles. Even the AI is deliberately coded to behave as goofy as original LF2's!

9. What's your favorite mod?
I don't have a single favourite, but I do enjoy a variety of high quality mods.
The one thing they have in common is that they tend to keep the combat system feeling close to original LF2 (or even outright the same), but have greatly improved Stage Mode that does not rely on big army vs army fights.

10. Do you prefer playing the original LF2 or mods?
Original LF2.
Most mods are made by people who just wanted to make the flashiest thing they could, and consequently failed to provide depth in their combat systems, becoming little more than spamming the same few special moves over and over again. People still come back to original LF2 despite the lackluster Stage mode precisely because its combat system feels a lot more intricate and varied.

Most importantly, I think mods need to strike a balance between familiarity and uniqueness.
One key charm of LF2 is that you don't have to completely re-learn each character; all you really need to understand is the shared basic mechanics and logic across all characters. Players should be able to port their legacy skills & muscle memory to new characters, but still have a fresh theme to explore in the new character.

Suck grammar aye.

1. When did you discover LF2 for the first time?
Around 2012, my brother show LF2 to me.
But i'm start to get into LF2 around 2016. (I had joined LFE around that year, but i kept forgot my pass.)

2. What makes the game fun for you? / Why do you love it?
Actually i'm not that love into LF2, it's just because LF2 is technically the "Basic" version of Lost Saga, and just because Lost Saga could be considered as a dead game, i'm getting more into LF2, sometimes.

(Lost Saga still playable till this day, but unlike LF2 which could be modified, played offline, and such... , without nice player to fight in Lost Saga, Lost Saga definitely would be boring because Lost Saga is an Online Multiplayer game. And since it's a Roleplay game, fight against weak player is absolutely feels like a bully, and fight against strong player would be frustating, tho i'm kind of pro-player in Lost Saga, so only small number of player i'd consider as strong player.)

But yea, the main reason why i like LF2 is because it's easy to modify.

3. Who is your favorite character in terms of gameplay? ( of the original 24 )
Rudolf.
In any games, i always like a character who could fight in many condition or having many skills.
The second choice would be Freeze.

4. Who is your favorite character in terms of design / looks? ( of the original 24 )
Firzen.

5. What's your favorite stage in stage mode?
Stage 4. Not that hard/long compared to Stage 5, and not that boring compared to Stage 3.

6. Do you prefer stage mode solo or with a team?
Solo, if i'll go with team, i would play with team of 3.

7. Do you prefer small fights or big battles?
Team fight.

8. Who is your favorite custom character?
Mahoro.
Cute, Simple, and easy to be modified.
I really like my Mahoro at the version where she could spin around a damn big sword. (If you ever play that version, i'm sure you didn't know about her DJA+A skill, it's pretty nice. (i didn't show that in the video))
Well i didn't made stuff "nicely" at that time, so it's really "bug-fest".

The what i mention (But please don't bother to read the text in that video, why do i feels it's really cringe :s )(Just skip to 5:00) (Click to View)

9. What's your favorite mod?
My own mod perhaps... but... well... "my own mod" isn't exist, in this case.
If i should pick the available mod, then Little Fighter 3.6, at some point, it's nice.

10. Do you prefer playing the original LF2 or mods?
It's based on my mood, but i would rather to play mods.

Awesome answers, guys.
It's so nice to see that this game is still played and talked about with such a passion.

@STM1993:
What a beautiful answer. Thnak you, it was a pleasure to read this.

I'm exactly one of those guys you talked about.
I'm rediscovering the game again after years and it's such a blast to see what the commiunity has created over the years.

Now that I'm not a kid anymore, I can really see the depth of the Combat System.
It was so ahead of it's time, it's ridiculous. Still a better game than some modern stuff.

Back in middle school, a friend showed it to me.

2. What makes the game fun for you? / Why do you love it?

5th so I can face off against Julian, Justin & the knights.

I prefer a real life team member but you guys know how that goes with the lag. My brother isn't interested in playing with me. If I do play stage mode it is solo

7. Do you prefer small fights or big battles?

Small solo fights

8. Who is your favorite custom character?
